There are some changes in the offing!
I started this site when I was a different person. The front page here is going to change, very soon now, to reflect who I am now, and the new family I am creating. Part of this change is a new web address:
tearsinrain.us will still come here, but the look and feel will be changing, and the old Tears In Rain content will be moving off to a side chamber. I will still post my personal observations there, but this site will become my family’s portal. To that end, I will be contacting some of you to see if you want some blog and gallery space to call your own. (Mom, Dad? :)
Anyway, as I write this, it’s 39 days until the wedding!

Thanks for coming here. I appreciate the time and attention you are offering me. I hope you find the investment worthwhile.
When I first started this site, I was in the midst of a separation, a health crisis and a period of employment difficulties that all together nearly overwhelmed me. As the months turned into years, these issues began to resolve themselves, as they always do when we patiently wait.
I am still introspective, and Blade Runner is still my favorite movie but the tone of this site is changing. My melancholy is greatly ameliorated by my engagement to the new Love of my life. Lori makes me happier than I’ve ever been. We are planning our wedding for September of this year. I’ve finally landed in a job that I think will be a long-term and profitable position in my career. In this new world, I am Decker, leaving the dark and rain with Rachel, who does not have an expiration date.

A few notes about the references to Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner through out the site. This has been my favorite movie since I read the shooting script before the movie was released. I’ve seen it many times, and each of the various edited versions. The quote, and the source of my site name is from Roy Batty’s speech at the end of his battle with Decker. He laments how everything he achieved and witnessed would be lost, like tears in rain. Bradbury is the link back to this page, the home page of the site. J.F. Sebastian lives in the Bradbury Hotel with his animatronic friends. The hotel’s’ name is a nod to the author Ray Bradbury. Tears and Rain are my Blog and Photo Gallery, respectively. The origin of the name is pretty self-evident, although Tears is no longer as descriptive of my blog postings as it once was. I started this in the depths of a depression that meant nearly everything I wanted to write came from, or caused, tears. Tyrell is the name of the Corporation that created the Replicants. In some ways, everyone in the movie either works for, or owes their existence to the Tyrell Corporation. This is where I intend to put my professional resume and menu of services, once things settle down a bit.
